Title: Manual Handling
Aim of Manual Handling Training Course:
The manual handling course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge to conduct all manual handling activities in a manner that will prevent injury. The course deals with informing participants on the consequences of lifting incorrectly, the philosophy being that if persons understand the consequences of incorrect lifting they will pay more attention to lifting correctly. On completion of the course participants will be able to, understand the consequences of incorrect lifting, understand the mechanics of the spine and muscular system and understand the 8 principles of safe lifting
Manual Handling Course Content:
- Legislation Employer & Employee duties
Structure of Spine, anatomy and muscular system
Hazards associated with lifting
Principals of levers and laws of motion
Use of equipment, Inc Access equipment breathing apparatus & gas monitors
8 principals handling loads safely
Practice in safe handling of loads
Course Duration:
½ day
No of delegates:
Maximum of 10 participants
Prerequisites:
All candidates must bring:
- Loose comfortable clothing.
Certification:
On successful completion candidates will be awarded a Salus certificate valid for 3 years
